Daniel Coyle is the bestselling author of The Little Book of Talent and The Talent Code, two books that explain how to unlock talent and build skills in any discipline. Daniel has covered outstanding performers for years as senior editor and now contributing editor for Outside magazine.

Daniel‘s book, the best-selling Little Book of Talent, is a user’s manual for improving skills through 52 scientifically-proven, field-tested methods. Whether you’re in business, an athlete, or an artist, there are specific steps you can take to build your skills, your organization’s skills, or even your kids’ skills. The Little Book builds on five years Daniel spent researching for The Talent Code, visiting the world’s greatest hotbeds of talent and interviewing master coaches.

While The Little Book of Talent offers practical instruction for skill-building, The Talent Code takes a deeper look at the neuroscience behind learning. Certain habits of practice, coaching, and motivation most promote the growth of myelin, the microscopic brain fibers that speed up neural pathways. Both The Talent Code and The Little Book of Talent explain how to make these practices part of your life and become better at what matters most to you.  His latest book, co-written with Olympic gold-medalist and seven-time Tour de France rider Tyler Hamilton, is a look at the dark side of excellence; The Secret Race draws back the curtain on the culture of doping in professional cycling.  The Secret Race won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award, the most prestigious award in sports writing. It has been hailed as a landmark publication for its no-holds-barred exposé of doping at the top echelons of professional cycling. It’s Daniel‘s third book about the cycling elite, following the bestselling Lance Armstrong: Tour de Force and Lance Armstrong’s War.

Daniel Coyle is a contributing editor at Outside magazine and a former Senior Editor. He has been nominated twice for the National Magazine Award and has been featured in The Best American Sports Writing. He has written for Sports Illustrated, The New York Times Magazine, and Play.
